Journey with Carolina Pro Musica from the Age of Mysticism and the music of Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179). At a time when few women wrote, Hildegard, known as "Sybil of the Rhine", produced major works of theology and visionary writings. When few women were accorded respect, she was consulted by and advised bishops, popes, and kings. Continue on a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain during the reign of Alphonse X (the wise), king of Castille and Leon from 1221-1284 and to Montserrat where La Moreneta inspires the pilgrim, thirty miles from Barcelona. On to Germany after the Reformation with hymns associated with Luther based on works from Latin and music previously associated with worship. Enjoy the original secular songs along with their religious counterparts.

Recorded before a live audience April 16, 2004, Belmont Abbey Basilica, Belmont, NC
